Beauty Trends to Need to Try in 2017
The future of beauty finds its way into our bathrooms or makeup bags by first strutting its stuff on the runways of Fashion week. This February, Fashion week will heat up London, Paris, New York, and Milan. Gone are the days of dramatic cat eyes, calm colors, and matte. Hello smudged eyeliner, high-pigmented pastel hues, and glow. Take a look at the trends for 2017.
2016 was all about some matte tones. We saw them in the Naked Basics palettes, we saw them in Morphe… you get it. We saw them everywhere. The vibes behind the scenes at Fashion week were far from matte, though. Here’s your permission to get rid of your matte hues. Trade those flat tones in for some shimmer and water-color esque shadows this spring and summer.
While you’re at it, get rid of your desire to create the perfect cat eye. This season is all about smudging and cream products to help get the job done. Think kohl liners and dramatically lined waterlines, complete with a glossy finish. Get your hands on some bright colored liner (Think neon pink, aqua…) Even though bright colors are certainly in this spring, black will never leave the spotlight. Instead of the perfect cat eye, think kitten. The wing is still there, but it’s softer and smudged.
It’s time to leave your cherished nude colors at home. Find your favorite orange-red hue instead! Looks off the runway were complete with orange-to-red ombre lips. The keyword for lips this spring and summer is: bold. Bright colors with high pigmentation should find their way into your makeup bag this spring.
Why leave it at orange? Try out some other bold colors like fuchsia, plum, or even gray. Don’t sell yourself short by picking up only matte, though. Bold colors come in a huge variety of tones; some with shimmer, some are glossy, and some are downright glittery. Embrace the shine.
The skinny is in on cheeks and it’s called: draping. Instead of applying blush to the apples of your cheeks, it’s applied on the corner of your cheeks and brought up to the sides of your eyes. Funky, right?
It’s OK to go heavy handed on the blush this season. Load that brush up with some baby pink and give yourself the perfect flush. Other colors that were seen backstage were deep oranges and peach which is flattering for almost every skintone. Bronzer shouldn’t be ruled out, either. This season is all about some pops of color and glow. Try out a pink-hued or color-hued highlighter applied by the ‘draping’ method – you’ll thank us later.
Makeup artists on the runway are showcasing loads of new vibes this year. Looks range from “Rave girl” to “Sleek and Polished”, but they’ve all got one major thing in common: glowing skin. From highlight to sheen, sparkle to outright glitter, glowing skin is a major theme this year.
Besides, who wouldn’t want to be mistaken for sweating shimmer?
